Castell Howell Foods has become the FAW's official food wholesale partner under a long-term contract.
Neither party disclosed financial terms, contract duration or projected volumes.
MD Matt Lewis and FAW CEO Noel Mooney framed the deal around community, nutrition and wellbeing rather than commercial metrics.
Castell Howell Foods has signed a long-term partnership with the Football Association of Wales (FAW), taking the position of official food wholesale partner to the governing body. Neither party disclosed the contract's financial terms or its duration.
The deal gives the Welsh wholesaler a named anchor relationship in the sports and events catering channel, a segment where supplier status with a national governing body typically opens doors to stadium hospitality, training-ground catering and grassroots event supply. Castell Howell did not disclose projected volumes, and the FAW has not published figures on the food spend the partnership covers.
Matt Lewis, managing director of Castell Howell Foods, framed the agreement in terms of brand and community rather than volumes. "As a proud Welsh business, partnering with the Football Association of Wales is an exciting opportunity for us. Our business has always been built around people, relationships and a strong sense of community, values that are very much at the heart of this partnership," he said.
"Through our shared passion for championing healthy eating and exercise, there are no limits as to what can be achieved together and we look forward to creating opportunities that leave a lasting legacy," Lewis added.
Noel Mooney, chief executive of the Football Association of Wales, positioned the deal beyond pure supply. "We are delighted to welcome Castell Howell as our Official Food Wholesale Partner. This partnership is about much more than food. It brings together two organisations that share a genuine commitment to improving lives in communities across Wales," he said.
According to the wholesaler, the partnership will promote positive choices around nutrition, physical activity and overall wellbeing. That positioning aligns with Castell Howell's broader public messaging on healthy eating rather than with any disclosed commercial metrics.
The contract lands as Castell Howell continues to invest in capacity. The company recently broke ground on a new warehouse, an expansion that supports the volume base a governing-body contract could build on. Neither announcement carries disclosed revenue, margin or inventory figures, so the commercial impact remains unquantified.
For independent food wholesalers across the UK and Ireland, the deal illustrates the value of federation and governing-body partnerships as demand anchors: exclusive or semi-exclusive supply status concentrates volume with one distributor and narrows the field for branded suppliers seeking access to that channel.
What is measured here is the contract itself — a long-term, named wholesale partnership. What is asserted, but not yet quantified, is the scale of the opportunity. Watch for Castell Howell to disclose volume or revenue effects tied to FAW events as the partnership's first season progresses.
